VegRx- a New Program to Increase Community Food Access
A partnership with Jefferson Healthcare, 5210 and the Port Townsend Food Co-op
JCFM is partnering with Jefferson Healthcare, 5210 and the Port Townsend Food Co-op to provide families experiencing food insecurity with $10 fruit and vegtable (VegRx) prescriptions starting during the 2018 farmers market season. When patients of Jefferson Healthcare who are clients of our provider champions, Drs. Mattern, Harris, Parker and ARNP Irick, indicate that they are experiencing food insecurity on their client intake form, their provider may offer them a VegRx prescription while supplies last. This prescription is redeemable at the Port Townsend and Chimacum Farmers Markets from April-mid-December and at the Port Townsend Food Co-op during the months of January-March. This is a trail program in 2018.
- Receive VegRx prescription from participating Jefferson Healthcare providers.
- Visit the Market's Info booth at the Port Townsend or Chimacum Farmers Markets to redeem prescription.
- Your prescription is good for 12 months and can be refilled at the market booth. Spend VegRx on fresh vegetables, fruit, herbs, vegetable plant starts, and seeds at any farm booth.
- At the end of the market season in December return to the market booth for a three-month prescription, which can be redeemed January-March at the Port Townsend Food Co-op.
