We have two more great reasons for you to visit your Port Townsend Farmers Market this Saturday: salmon sandwiches and inspiration from Chef Arran Stark. Tasty salmon sandwiches and plates featuring Cape Cleare Salmon, locally grown greens and Pane d'Amore bread are one of the beloved staples of the Port Townsend Farmers Market. If you have been waiting for your salmon sandwich fix, you are in luck! The Cape Cleare Salmon cart is back at the Port Townsend Farmers Market starting this Saturday!
Last Saturday was a windy one. So much so that, while the market was well attended, many vendors were bracing their canopies throughout the day. Sadly, we had to cancel Chef Arran Stark's cooking demonstration. The great news is Arran will be at market this Saturday with a demonstration for you starting at 9:30am. He will be utilizing market ingredients that most inspire him to cook up something delicious for you to try. As a chef who focuses on method-based cooking rather than following recipes, you have got to see Arran in action for meal ideas and local food inspiration.

Memorial Service for John Estes
Please join us in celebrating the life of John Estes on Thursday, May 23rd from 6pm to 8pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Port Townsend. John passed away on March 24th at his home. John served on the Jefferson County Farmers Market Board of Directors as Treasurer for 15+ years. His work was invaluable to our markets and helped us grow from a single farmers market in downtown Port Townsend to the three vibrant farmers markets you know today. John was also a member of the Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary. John is dearly missed by the farmers market community.
What: Memorial service and potluck in honor of John Estes
When: Thursday, May 23rd, 6-8pm
Where: Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave, Port Townsend
Please bring a potluck dish to share as well as a memory of John. The Jefferson County Farmers Markets will provide drinks.
Please contact Amanda if you would like more information.

About the Music
Each year, Tres Piedras (‘three stones’) celebrates the Cinco de Mayo weekend in the Port Townsend area, playing an eclectic mix of Mexican songs and instrumentals ranging from polkas and waltzes to traditional sones and cumbias. With a full plate of evening performances in the area, Tres Piedras will also serenade the Farmers Market on Saturday with Peter McCracken playing vihuela, Bruce Reid on guitar, and Bonnie Zahnow and Marla Streator on fiddles. Music at the market will follow the chef demo around 10:45 am. Around noon, the market stage features a guest performance by Hocker/Sanders/Doyle, a jazz trio of trumpet, guitar and saxophone — a presentation by local bandleader Jonathan Doyle highlighting collaborators from Chicago and New York.

Community Health Assessment
The Public Health’s Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) is conducting a comprehensive health assessment of the community. In addition to the data gathering that we completed for the 2014 survey, we are gathering a diversity of voices from the community using an online (and paper) health survey and three public conversations (forums) around the county. Click here to take the survey. The outcomes of this community outreach will inform health priorities in Jefferson County for the next 4-5 years. Please also consider attending one of our community conversations. For further information contact Bernadette Smyth at firstname.lastname@example.org, 360-379-4478.
