We are celebrating local berries at the Port Townsend Saturday Farmers Market this weekend with our third annual Berries in Abundance day. Chef Arran Stark will start off our celebration with a cooking demo featuring local berries. Arran's cooking always takes its inspiration from what's fresh. He doesn't follow a recipe but instead leads us through cooking methodology. This means that you have to be at market to learn to make as well as taste the delicious dishes he whips up. Join us from 10 to 10:30am for Arran's demo at the main stage.
Following Arran, we are hosting our first ever Pie Contest. Local berry pies are welcome from both home bakers and professional chefs. We will have home and professional chef categories with awards and prizes for our winning pies. Sign uptoday to participate in the Pie Contest. Prizes include a baking essentials basket from the Food Co-op, a farmers market Flora bag filled with market goodies, Chimacum Corner Farmstand hat and more!
Find fresh blackberries, sylvan berries, marionberries, raspberries, currants, mullberries, strawberries and blueberries at market from Finnriver, Red Dog, Onatrue, Willow Wind, SpringRain, River Run, Serendipity Farms as well as from Amie's Garden. Also, our prepared food vendors are bringing lots of berry specials your way. Check out the "From Our Vendors" section for more details.

Nadine's Kitchen will be at both the Port Townsend Wednesday and Saturday Farmers Markets this week. With so many festivals in the region during the summer months, a few of our prepared food vendors will be away from market this weekend. This gives us the opportunity to introduce Saturday Farmers Market patrons to Grace Love and Nadine's Kitchen. She will be participating in Saturday Markets when space allows as well as weekly at the Port Townsend Wednesday Farmers Market offering southern soul food, including farm-fresh greens.
POP Club is today at the Port Townsend Wednesday Farmers Market from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. The Port Townsend Public Library is leading Storytime and Amy Goetz of the Farmers Market is leading an exploration of carrots. Kids, come crunch on carrots and learn about how they grow. If you miss the carrot activity with Amy on Wednesday, you can check it out on Sunday at the Chimacum Farmers Market, or maybe you will enjoy it so much you will want to learn about carrots at both farmers market. Come play and learn with us!
