Can you believe it?! We only have six more Port Townsend Farmers Markets this season. Also, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Mark your calendars for our Port Townsend Thanksgiving Farmers Market on Saturday, November 17th, 10am to 2pm, Tyler Street. Jefferson Healthcare's Executive Chef, Arran Stark, will host his last chef demo of the season to inspire your holiday cooking. Find delicious farm-direct fixings for your table including potatoes for mashing; carrots, parsnips, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, onions and garlic for roasting; wine and cider for toasting; and much more. SpringRain Farm and Orchard even has turkeys. Please, pre-order now!
As the harvest season winds down, take advantage of the last six markets of the season to stock up on Jefferson and Clallam County grown food. The crops that are most plentiful at market this time of year store well. Don't fret if you don't have a root cellar. Any area in your basement, crawlspace, or garage that stays cool all winter long can be used for food storage. Storing food in a cool part of your house doesn't require electricity and ensures that you can enjoy local crops during the winter months. Here is a great article with storage tips for various crops, which are all available at market.
EBT shoppers, take advantage of JCFM's food assistance matching programs now to ensure that you have nutritious and delicious foods on hand beyond the local growing season. Remember, we are offering $20 in matching when you spend $25 on your EBT card at market.

One Straw Ranch is pleased to announce several new boxed deals! In addition to the Farm Pack Beef Box, we now have a Pork Box and a Variety Box, which contains both beef and pork. Each $220 box weighs about 25 lbs so is perfect for a small freezer. See us at market to pick up a flyer with details or check out our website at www.onestrawranch.com.
It’s the last Barbarian Fine Cuisine weekend of the year. Come eat and celebrate a great season! We'll be slinging our tasty artisan meat and veggie burgers, always honoring local growers, sustainable practices and community bonding. We are grateful for Mother Earth's plentiful bounties, our farmers, and for your support. This winter we'll work to improve our little Barbarian empire and we will enjoy the introspection of the season with family, friends, and fire. Hope you also have a great winter!
Cheers~ Chris and Thais
