Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins! Amy and I are working in an office full of pumpkins. This patch of friendly winter squash is ready to migrate to the Chimacum Farmers Market this Sunday for our Halloween Farmers Market. Join us on October 28th for our last farmers market of the Chimacum season. To celebrate, we are hosting pumpkin painting, trick-or-treat with participating vendors and with Chimacum Corner Farmstand, a costume contest for children and adults, as well as live music by Harmonica Pocket. Come in a food or farm-themed costume or your costume of choice for a chance to win a fabulous prize donated by Chimacum Corner Farmstand and the farmers market.
With October coming to a close, this Saturday is also our last day of live music outside and regular hours at the Port Townsend Farmers Market. Starting November 3rd, we switch to winter hours. We will be open November through December 15th from 10am to 2pm. Our last day of the market season will be inside the Port Townsend Community Center with music and holiday cheer.
Use Your FMNP Now
Shoppers, if you use WIC/Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers, this is truly your last weekend to use them. FMNP checks expire at the end of October. If you are holding on to a full packet of checks and you haven't had them matched yet, please stop by the farmers market info booth before you start shopping so we can extend your food benefits with a matching $20 for farm-fresh foods. The Jefferson County Farmers Markets are full of delicious greens, winter squash, carrots, beets, potatoes and other root veggies, apples, pears, pasture-raised meat and so many other nutritious treasures to enjoy.
It takes a Community to Respond to Hunger
Donate to the Jefferson County Farmers Markets (JCFM) food assistance matching and fruit and vegtable prescription (VegRx) programs today through the Give Jefferson campaign. JCFM's Fresh Bucks and Gimme5 food assistance matching programs help some 500 individuals and families in our community access nutritious, locally grown food by matching federal food assistance benefits. Our food assistance programs help local families and individuals bring home more of the most nutrition-dense foods while at the same time supporting local farmers. Our win-win programs are only possible with support from community members like you. Visit the Give Jefferson nonprofit catalog and make a donation to JCFM today. All Give Jefferson JCFM donations will go 100% towards our matching and VegRx funds. Thank you!
