Flutter By Pizza is back at market. Visit them this Saturday for a delicious thin-crust pizza featuring fresh ingredients from some of our local farms.
Janice Designs is back at market this Saturday in her own space. She will have a promotion on her beautiful, original necklaces to celebrate her first day at market this season. Stop by, say "hi," and check out the necklace deal.
This week One Straw Ranch is featuring jowl bacon! With the same delicious flavor as our regular bacon, it is made from the pork jowl instead of the pork belly. Jowl bacon has a higher fat to meat ratio than regular bacon so you get more of those lovely bacon drippings. Save those drippings in a jar and use them to create the most savory bacon-y meals and treats! One really easy way to use the drippings is in place of butter or oil when cooking grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes, French toast, popcorn, sautéed cabbage or kale. Jowl bacon also makes an excellent base for sauces and stews and is a wonderful way to flavor beans. Or, make a tasty German potato salad with all the lovely new potatoes and fresh onions that are at market right now. Try some this week at 10% off or just stop by the booth to talk about all the ways you love to use bacon – and the drippings!
Red Dog Farm will be bringing some sweet strawberries, which have re-emerged after their brief hiatus. Additionally, we will have sugar snap peas, beans, raspberries, baby leeks, broccoli, zucchini, tons more stuff and maybe even a few tomatoes!

One of our Port Townsend Farmers Market shoppers, Salty Hanes, has taken a creative approach to supporting our Wednesday Farmers Market. She started wearing a sandwich board on Wednesdays to help remind people to go to the farmers market. Salty invites market fans to consider joining her. She writes, "It would help to have a few more volunteers wearing signs in more locations. I have one extra sign for someone's use or they could make their own. Call me with questions, locations to walk or sit, and suggestions at: (360) 379-2268. Thank you. Happy sunshine."~ Salty Hanes
On behalf of the small, local businesses, families and farmers who make up our markets, thank you for sharing your voice and support. Just as "it takes a village to raise a child," it takes a community to support a resilient farmers market.
