Letter of Thanks to Moonlight Farm
About a year ago I wanted to try cooking pulled pork for the first time. I went to the Moonlight Farm booth at the Farmers Market where I learned that if I buy a pork shoulder butt with the bone in I can use the bones as well as the broth generated from the pulled pork recipe to cook beans. I tried it and absolutely loved both the pulled pork as well as the beans I made.
Now, I’m absolutely hooked on slow cooking bones for beans and broth making. The flavor is amazing and it feels good knowing I’m getting the nutritional value of the bone marrow. Moonlight’s ‘Succulent Pulled Pork’ recipe, one of many they give out free at their market booth, is delicious and a great value when you consider that it generates such amazing broth for beans or soup making.
Thanks Moonlight for your delicious pork and the recipes and inspiration to expand my cooking repertoire. ~ Gabe Van Lelyveld

The Peninsula Poultry Breeders are visiting market this weekend. Peninsula Poultry Breeders is a collaborative network of local farmers who are committed to providing quality chicks and pullets for the home and small commercial market. "We offer a sustainable, humane alternative to corporate-run hatcheries. We breed to a standard of excellence that includes vigorous health, high productivity, breed conformation, stable temperaments and true dual purpose. We offer excellent customer support, especially to new poultry owners, and guarantee the health of our birds at purchase. We follow humane breeding and hatching principles and house our birds in natural living conditions where they can be outdoors in a flock setting, hunt for bugs, dust bathe, and graze on pasture. Breeds offered during our initial year of operation are Black Australorps, Delawares, Easter Eggers and Narragansett Turkeys. Chicks are $6.50 each, Turkey Poults are $11.50. We will be taking orders this week at the Port Townsend Farmer's Market for our last hatch of the 2017 season."
