The mission of the Jefferson County Farmers Market is to support the development of local, sustainable farming by cultivating vibrant farmers markets that serve as community gathering places and celebrate local farmers, food producers, and artisans as well as provide access to healthy food for our community.
Founded in 1992, the Jefferson County Farmers Market (JCFM) is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization that operates the Port Townsend Saturday and Wednesday Farmers Markets as well as the Chimacum Farmers Market. The JCFM operates some of the largest and most successful small town markets in the state of Washington.
The JCFM makes great efforts to expand that community and give back where it can. The market partners with the Jefferson County Public Health Department to promote the Women and Infant Children (WIC) benefit program and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to promote Food Stamp usage at the markets.
Each week the market allocates up to five spaces for over 30 local charitable organizations like Habitat For Humanity, Gathering Place, and Port Townsend Marine Science Center to reach the thousands of people that pass through the market each season.
